Massage Therapy

Leanne Hutchinson is a very experienced Remedial Therapist who uses a wide range of techniques depending on the client’s needs. Leanne has a Diploma in Remedial Massage and is a CHEK Exercise Coach. Massage therapy undertaken by Leanne is covered under many private health insurance ancillary benefit plans.

These include:

  • Trigger Point Therapy is used to deactivate those hypersensitive knots in muscles. Trigger points cause muscles to be short, alter biomechanics and have a referred pain pattern. Some headaches can be from active trigger points in the neck, shoulders and head area.
  • Deep Tissue Massage is a massage that reaches the deeper layers of the tissues. In some areas there are three and four layers of muscle and fascia. In many cases it is better to have a follow up treatment to free up the deeper layers of tissue. Feel free to discuss the depth of pressure that is right for you.
  • Myofascial Release is a gentle but powerful treatment to release fascia. Fascia is connective tissue that encompasses our muscle and organs. With postural, biomechanical or emotional strain this tissue can become tight and restrictive. Thi is a great treatment to help you regain flexibility and movement.
  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage is used to drain the lympathic system. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is used for women post breast cancer surgery. When lymph nodes have been removed, the fluid from the arm must be massaged through another pathway to other nodes for processing. Failure to do this regularly can cause fluid build-up, tissue damage and infection. This is a very light and relaxing massage that does not use oil.
  • Sports Massage is designed to relieve tight muscles after training. By relaxing and flushing the muscles of waste, recovery is quicker.
  • Postural Correction. There is a very real connection between our posture, our pain, our bodily movements and our aging process. A forward head position, slumping at the computer, wearing high heels or just giving in to gravity, can all be addressed with prescribed stretching and strengthening. Live in harmony with your body!
